Highlights
This summer the British and Irish Lions rugby team, selected from the finest players in England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland, will travel to Australia to take on the might of the Wallabies. Oakham School has an extraordinary British and Irish Lions Rugby history, with no less than four OOs having pulled on the famous red jersey. Bill Weston represented the Lions in Argentina in 1936 , Lewis Moody in 2005 (New Zealand), Tom Croft in 2009 (South Africa) and 2013 (Australia), and more recently Hamish Watson in 2021 (South Africa).
We are also delighted that we will be joined by British and Irish Lions Austin Healey (1997, South Africa; 2001, Australia) and Lions Captain Martin Johnson (1993, New Zealand; 1997, South Africa (c); 2001, Australia (c)), who are both current Oakham School parents as well as Peter Wheeler who represented the Lions in 1977 (New Zealand) and 1980 (South Africa) who is a current Oakham School grandparent.
