Highlights
Known as Britain’s own Belgian-style classic, the CiCLE Classic offers a grueling and prestigious challenge. It combines the grit of farm tracks and steep inclines with the intensity of elite-level racing and a demanding drive to the finish line.
A Historic Pedigree
Originally launched in 2005 as a national race within the British Cycling Premier Calendar, the event quickly rose to international prominence. By 2007, the Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic joined the UCI international calendar as a class 1.2 event.
Celebrating over 20 years of history, it stands as the longest-running single-day international race in the history of British cycle sport. To this day, it remains the only one-day race for elite men within the UCI Europe Tour calendar held in Britain.
Breaking the Mold
The CiCLE Classic was specifically designed to move away from repetitive circuit-based racing. Instead, it serves as a “place to place” race, purposefully emulating the legendary Spring Classics of Northern Europe, such as:
Paris-Roubaix
Ronde van Vlaanderen
The Course & Venue
For two decades, the neighboring towns of Oakham in Rutland and Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire have provided the perfect backdrop for this iconic event, continuing their long-standing tradition as the official start and finish venues.
