The Oakham School Golf Day is back again this year, a great opportunity for OOs, Honorary OOs, Staff, current Oakhamians and Oakham School Parents to get to know each other.
The Rutland Water Golf Course has a strong Oakham School connection – Steve and Tracy are Old Oakhamian Parents with their children Tom, Josh, and Liv, all OOs. The golf course was opened in 1993 initially as a 9-hole par 3 course, which is now known as the Hambleton Course. 3 holes were added to the par 3 courses then the area was used for the full-length front nine of the Normanton Course, which opened in 2002; holes 1, 8, and 9 were redesigned in 2004, followed by the back nine to create an 18-hole full-length course which officially opened in May 2007. The 18 hole Normanton course was designed by Ben Stephens (’95) over a five year period 2001-06. The club and course has grown strength to strength becoming one of the most popular pay-as-you-play courses in the area and it is playable for golfers of all different levels
